TENNIS
The OFRC tennis facility is the premier tennis site in Alamance County featuring 10 soft composition clay courts, 4 hard courts and 4 indoor composition Hydro-courts. All courts are lighted for extended evening play. OFRC is one of the few tennis facilities in the state that operates year-round.
Some enthusiasts participate in outdoor tennis almost year round, but the action really picks up between March and October. From Men's Night to Gate City; inter-club challenges to USTA Tournament tennis; Rally Ball to "Living Legends", there is plenty of organized action to keep your game sharp. Whether you are new to the game or a seasoned tournament player, Olde Forest is the place to meet new players or challenge your abilities.
Junior Tennis
2010 continues to be an exciting year for junior tennis at OFRC!! Many of our juniors are competing in USTA tournaments and in NCHSAA and NCISAA High School action. 27 Junior members were ranked in USTA state competition, 4 were High School State Champions.
In supporting the Alamance Junior Tennis Foundation, OFRC played host to many Middle School and High School matches. Olde Forest was also the site for several junior tournaments including the USTA L-3 Old Forest Junior Open. This Fall tournament brought many of the top junior players from around the state to compete in high level tournament action. In all, over 150 players participated in the event.
"Racket Heard 'round the Courts"

Congratulations to The Elon School boys High School tennis team for winning its' second consecutive NCISAA 1A State Championship!! The Commadores finished with a perfect 16-0 season and also added a Triad Athletic Conference Championship. Coach Scott Schofer was also named 2010 TAC Coach of the Year.

High-fives also go out to three Western Alamance Varsity tennis players. Greg Patterson and Rajiv Dinakaran, Regional doubles champions and all conference players, made it to the semi-finals of the NCHSAA 3A tournament. The WAHS seniors tennis careers are far from over. In the Fall, Greg will be heading to Fayetteville, NC to play for Methodist University, while Rajiv travels further South to play at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. Teammate Eric Greene's playing days at WAHS are just beginning. The stellar freshman played #1 singles most of the season. Eric was a Regional Champion in singles but was also defeated in the semi-finals of the NCHSAA State 3A tounament.

Ladies Gate City Tennis League
Our Gate City Tennis League has over 60 avid ladies, on three teams, ranging in ability from NTRP 2.5 (beginner / C) to 4.5 (advanced / A). Each competitive team has 16 active team members. Teams have a scheduled practice and match each week. Each team match consist of 5 doubles teams. Score is best of 3 full sets. Each OFRC team competes in their respective division along with other Triad area teams. The 2010 season begins April 6-7.

INDOOR TENNIS
From November through March, Olde Forest tennis players head indoors. Our indoor facility houses 4 composition Hydro-courts, a fitness room, small lounge, restrooms, and an upper level observation / banquet area. There are many opportunities to play during the cold winter months. We offer a 20 week seasonal court time, walk-on time, a full slate of junior and adult clinics as well as social events.
